Broadmoor Vase 103b

#80 2014-11-01

Our Broadmoor vases, form number 103b, were thrown in Denver.

The speckled mauve glaze was developed by Howard Lewis at Niloak. He brought several of his glazes to Broadmoor after working at Dickota Potteries.

This vase has an ordinary Denver ink stamp and mostly intact base shellac (click).

We also see two traits of a thrown piece: the irregular rim and footed base.

Form 103b is pictured in this early Broadmoor-Springs brochure (click).

The vase in blue has JB Hunt"s incised mark (click).

Here we see the vase in matte green. It has one of the nicer JB Hunt marks (click).
