Paul Genter was probably in Ohio in the
early 1940s when his elephant and gowned lady ashtrays were made.
Broadmoor-Denver
closed its doors by 1940, and he went to work for Imperial
Porcelain Co. in Zanesville in 1946. |
||
The red ashtray is Genter's. The butterscotch Republican Party ashtray inspired by his design was made in 1965. From Carltons Paul Genter died in 1949. However from Social Security records we believe he actually died in Kansas in November 1965.

The gold overglaze decoration is often worn off partially or completely from Genter's gowned lady ashtrays.
